Physical Graffiti è il sesto album in studio dei Led Zeppelin, pubblicato per la prima volta dalla Swan Song Records nel 1975.
Il disco vede il ritorno ad atmosfere più aggressive e cupe dopo la parentesi più spensierata del precedente Houses of the holy. L’hard rock si mescola tuttavia con country, folk, hard-funk e pop-rock, alternando brani duri con altri più leggeri, con tanto di pezzi meno curati e scartati in dischi precedenti… Le melodie restano semplici e accattivanti, con la voce di Plant sempre accattivante ma arrochita dopo l’intervento alle corde vocali…
Tra i brani spiccano, a nostro avviso, dietro la superlativa Kashmir: In the light, Everybody takes it through e Houses of the Holy, seguite da The rover, In my time of dying, Trumpled under foot, Down by seaside e Ten years gone. Menzione speciale per la strumentale Bron-Yr-Aur…
La grafica risulta estremamente curata, con la possibilità di avere immagini diverse alle finestre della copertina dell’album. Il libretto non contiene i testi dei brani ma unicamente fotografie della band…
Nel complesso un disco di livello elevato, estremamente scorrevole ed in grado di allietare chiunque voglia dilettarsi con musica di qualità…
