Led Zeppelin IV è il quarto album in studio dei Led Zeppelin, pubblicato dalla Atlantic nel 1971.
Dopo i toni più intimi, delicati e sperimentali di Led Zeppelin III, la band torna a sonorità in prevalenza spiccatamente rock, aggressive e accattivanti che trascinano l’ascoltatore grazie a melodie indimenticabili, pur non mancando ballate come The battle of evermore o la hippesca Going to California. L’innesto di testi più ricercati ed esoterici anticipa quanto verrà sviluppato nei lavori successivi, mentre il sublime Stairway to heaven racchiude in sé un mini concept, mescolando i toni della ballata all’hard rock strumentale. La voce di Plant, come sempre, vale da sola il disco, adattandosi perfettamente agli strumenti e raggiungendo qui il proprio apice…
Tra i brani spiccano, a nostro avviso ovviamente, dietro l’inarrivabile Starway to heaven: Black Dog, Misty mountain hop e When the levee breaks, seguite da Goingo to California, The battle of Evermore e Rock and Roll…
